Mikasa’s all-new, next-generation FINA-approved game water polo ball is born from Mikasa's advanced technology, with an improved omnidirectional wet grip and overall quality and consistency improvements. Gone are the old buffed surfaces that dominated the construction of older model water polo balls, and provided uneven grip characteristics depending on the direction of the buffing. Mikasa's new premium foam rubber cover is smooth, and secures a wet grip force without buffing. The wet grip force (dynamic friction / static friction) is improved by roughly 26% in all directions. In addition, the softness (flexibility) of foam rubber makes the ball easier to grip and fits better in the hand.

So much better than the old-style FINA balls
Loving the new FINA water polo ball from Mikasa. The colors are cool to see, but the real winner is the soft, smooth cover. I had to try the ball myself to see if it truly had a better grip than the standard buffered surface balls, and was pleasantly surprised. These covers have a better feel and more consistent performance. If you haven't tried these balls yet you need to give them a try.
