Steps for Setting Up a Volleyball Court

• Measure the Court Dimensions – The first step is to measure the full court. A standard volleyball court is 59 feet long and 29 feet, 6 inches wide. Use a measuring tape to mark the four corners of the court. Make sure your corners form perfect right angles.
• Mark the Attack Line – Next, you need to mark the attack line. Measure 9 feet, 10 inches from the center line on each side of the court and mark it. The attack line runs parallel to the net and extends across the width of the court.
• Position the Poles – Poles that hold the volleyball net should be placed outside the sidelines. The official distance is between 1 foot, 8 inches, and 3 feet, 4 inches from each sideline. If you're using portable volleyball equipment, ensure the bases are securely in place and won't move during play.
• Set the Net Height – The height of the volleyball net varies depending on the players. For men's competition, the net should be 7 feet, 11 5/8 inches high. For women, it's 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches. Measure from the center of the court to the top of the net to ensure accuracy.
• Attach and Tighten the Net – Once your poles are in place and you've set the correct height, it's time to attach the net. Start by connecting the top cable of the net to the winch system on one of the poles. Then, attach the other side. Use the winch to tighten the net until it is taut.
• Attach the Antennas – The final step is to attach the antennas. These are flexible rods that are placed on the outer edge of the net, directly above each sideline. They mark the boundary of the playing area over the net. A ball that hits an antenna is considered out of bounds.
